A hand-coloured map of the southwestern part of Mexico, printed in1623, is displayed as the exhibit of the month. It is part of the Atlas by renowned cartographer and map maker Gerard Mercator. The map features a well-developed river network for its time and a great number of toponyms. The terrain is depicted by the so-called scoop method. Included are also topographical notes and a scale.
